A tragic road accident in Russia's Kuzbass region has claimed four lives. According to the regional office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the crash took place on July 19 along the Belovo–Konovalovo–Prokopyevsk highway.

Accident Details

The incident happened at the 74th kilometre mark of the highway. Investigators said that a 44-year-old driver of a Kamaz truck veered into the opposite lane. This led to a head-on collision with a VAZ-2110 passenger car coming from the opposite direction.

All Car Occupants Died on Spot

Tragically, all four people in the VAZ car, including the 19-year-old driver and three passengers, lost their lives at the scene before emergency services could arrive. Emergency responders confirmed that none of the car’s occupants survived the impact.

Authorities have yet to confirm if speed, fatigue, or mechanical failure played a role in the truck driver losing control.

Investigation Underway

Police officials have started a full investigation to determine the cause of the accident. They are collecting witness statements and examining the vehicles involved. Traffic on the route was temporarily disrupted but has since been restored.

Similar Incident Reported in Orenburg Region

Just a day earlier, another deadly crash occurred in the Orenburg region, involving a car, a truck, and a fuel tanker. The accident took place on the 255th kilometre of the M-5 Ural highway, resulting in two fatalities. Emergency crews worked to put out the resulting fire, using three vehicles and a team of eight responders. These back-to-back fatal accidents have raised concerns about road safety and the increasing number of multi-vehicle collisions on Russian highways.
